Traditions Of Men Part 29

Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Mark 7:13

Religion tells us:

  • Do good and then God will bless you!
  • Study the Word and God will give you more anointing!
  • Do the right things and God will answer your prayers!
  • If you sin God will not answer your prayers!
  • You can’t expect anything to work out because your life is not holy enough!

Religion portrays God as one who rewards us based on our efforts. This excludes grace which has already provided regardless of what we have done. Faith is the mechanism by which we receive the provision of grace.

Faith only can appropriate what God has already provided by grace. To find out what is available will require us to spend time meditating in Scripture to gain revelation of all that has been provided by grace.

It is important that we not forget the importance of grace to faith. Our faith cannot receive anything that has not already been provided by God’s grace. Grace then is the foundation on which our faith grows.

God has already moved on our behalf through the redemptive work of Jesus. We cannot make Him do anything that is not covered by this!

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Mark 11:24

This is one of the classic faith verses. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with faith but there is with the way it has been presented by certain groups. I have heard ministers state that Jesus was declaring that we could have anything our heart so desires.

In context of Scripture Jesus was telling His disciples that they would receive anything they ask for in prayer if their desires are in line with Scripture. He was not giving license to ask for anything regardless of whether or not it was covered in our redemption.

There are people who have taken this verse and asked for the winning lottery numbers. They miss the fact that faith can only appropriate what has already been provided by grace.

People struggle with faith because they are trying to “make” God do something on their behalf. God has already provided and faith is simply appropriating this provision. This takes the stress out of faith.

People struggle in their Christian lives due to a lack of understanding how faith works. Grace has provided for our every need but grace alone cannot provide manifestation. Appropriation of what has been provided requires faith.

The majority of Christians cannot see healing as something that has already been provided. They focus on the doctors report and miss the fact that the power of God resides in their spirit. Grace has already provided healing regardless of what the doctor may or may not say. Faith is how we receive healing provision.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1 Peter 2:24

This is a true statement. In the spirit we already have healing provided by Jesus’ sacrifice and broken body. Faith is how we release healing power into our physical bodies.
