For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:14
Paul tells us that children of God are to be led by the Spirit of God. Christians are His children and so we must develop in our awareness of the Spirit’s presence in our lives.
As we continue on in our journey I encourage you to take time to read the book of Acts. Make note of every time the early church references the Holy Spirit. You will find phrases like “the Holy Spirit said this” or “the Holy Spirit sent them out”. We should be just as aware of His presence in direction in our lives today.
There are a lot of tragedies that could have been avoided if someone had been sensitive to what the Holy Spirit was directing. We will not be aware of His leadings f we do not put in the time necessary to develop our relationship with Him.
The Holy Spirit will always lead us through our spirits. As we develop our awareness of our inner man we will become more aware of His presence within us.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
Jude 20
There are things we can do to make ourselves more aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. One of these is praying in the spirit as He gives the utterance.
God places responsibility on us to do what is necessary to grow spiritually. The Holy Spirit will help us if we are doing our part. He will never force us into anything because God wants us to willingly follow Him.
The Holy Spirit has never made any man, woman, or child receive salvation. He has never forced or tricked a single person into following His leading. We have a freewill and are responsible for our decisions to either pursue His presence or not to.
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
1 Corinthians 9:27
We have been given a freewill. It is our choice to either discipline our flesh to pursue God or not to pursue Him.
The Church has been largely void of power today because so many of us have limited our lives to what we are able to perceive with our five physical senses. We must stop limiting ourselves to the natural realm!
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26
Paul told his readers that the Holy Spirit would help them in prayer. He will help us as well but we must train ourselves to look to Him. The Holy Spirit will help us as we yield to Him in this type of prayer which many refer to as “praying in the Spirit”.
As we yield to the Holy Spirit He will provide us utterance to pray out mysteries unknown to us. These mysteries will give birth to revelation knowledge.
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
1 Corinthians 14:2
The more time we give to yielding to the Spirit in prayer by speaking out the utterances He provides, the more we will find ourselves understanding the mysteries of God’s kingdom. This is one of the greatest things we can do to increase our spiritual sensitivity.
