What Is Faith Part 5

We have spent time in previous posts discussing the importance of faith. It is the only way to please God (Hebrews 11:6) and it is the way that every Christian is called to live.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:17

This is one of several references that tell us that the just shall live by faith. We’ve looked at several others in our previous posts.

Faith is how God has called us to live.

God functions and operates by faith. He created the heavens and earth by His faith.

Creation was conceived in the heart of God. He spoke it into existence.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Genesis 1:3

God conceived light in His spirit and spoke it into existence. This is how faith operates.

It is challenging to try and understand faith with our natural understanding. Everything in the physical realm operates by faith.

Satan has a goal of keeping Christians locked into a sense ruled life dominated by our physical senses. This is a life void of faith that cannot experience the blessings and victory God desires for each one of us.

We do not have to live in fear, despair, and in confusion. We can live by faith and overcome everything that comes against us.

Our heavenly Father lives by faith. We can access this faith through His Word.

God is never negative, defeated, or depressed. We are His children and should be striving to imitate Him just as a natural child strives to imitate their human father.

Faith can change any situation. There will be a lot of opposition to face if we make a commitment to pursue faith. This will require us to make meditation in the Word of God first and foremost.

It is important to note that our goal is not to ground ourselves in a doctrine. Faith is not a theological statement and it is not just another doctrine for us to learn. Faith must become a lifestyle that we are unwilling to compromise on.

There are churches that call themselves “faith churches” and there are groups who call themselves “faith groups”. Faith is a way of life. It is not a single church or group.

Faith existed before humanity existed. It is how everything was created and it is how our creator lives.

As we progress in this study it will be vital for us to open our spirit to the Holy Spirit. There is a spirit of faith that can only be caught in the Word of God. This will not happen if we are not dedicating large blocks of time on a daily basis to considerate and careful study in the Word of God.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:17

Faith must become a lifestyle. Every decision, action, and direction taken must be made by faith. Nothing less can be accepted if we are going to live in the victory God has ordained for our lives.

Paul said that we move from “faith to faith”. We see here that faith is progressive and will develop over time.

I have heard people say that they have faith. There are millions of Christians who say things similar to this. Their lives tell a different story.

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth.
2 Thessalonians 2:20

Paul commended the Thessalonians because of their growth in faith. Their faith was developing and it was evident. Can we say the same about our faith?
