Fundamental Keys To Unlock The Holy Spirit’s Ministry 09

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:16 – 17)

John tells us that the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit. The world is oblivious to the Holy Spirit’s ministry. The reason for this is that they do not see Him and therefore cannot develop a relationship with Him.

We have seen that the first step in our journey of unlocking the Holy Spirit’s ministry is to recognize His presence. You do not have to make everything spectacular to have a relationship with the Spirit.

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:

And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:11 – 12)

Recognition of the Holy Spirit does not mean you will be seeing visions or hearing voices. He does speak to us, but it is in things like a very still small voice within your spirit, through insights that are seemingly out of nowhere or urges to change direction. His direction will rarely come spectacularly and usually only in times of crisis or to prepare you for an upcoming situation.

So much of what the Holy Spirit will communicate to you will not be with a still small voice. It will come through an inward knowing. Many call this the “witness” of the Spirit.

Many voices in the world are not God. You will get mixed up if you fall into the trap of trying to hear one. Satan will try to trick you into seeking to hear God audibly, and I warn you that is a path leading to error.

You have the “witness” and “knowing” provided by the Holy Spirit all day and night. He will use this to lead you in your decision making from everything from what to eat to find the best parking space.

The Holy Spirit cares about even the most minor details of your life. You may not have experienced His leadings in every area because you have not looked to Him for guidance. He is standing by, though, to help!

The Holy Spirit is God. There are four things that I’ve found in Scripture that make me think this is true: 1) He is eternal, 2) He is omniscient (all-knowing), 3) He is omnipotent (all-powerful), and 4) He is omnipresent. Let me show you some Scriptures that will validate these things.

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14)

The author of Hebrews refers to Him as the “eternal Spirit.” He was present at creation, and He is dwelling in your spirit today if you’ve made Jesus the Lord of your life!

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. (John 14:16)

I have heard Christians quote the Psalmist (Psalms 51:11) in prayer, pleading with God not to take the Holy Spirit from them. Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would be with us forever, and it is obvious these people are living with an Old Covenant mentality! You live in the New Covenant and do not have to be concerned with the Holy Spirit ever leaving you.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)

The second quality of deity is “omniscience.” Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would teach them all things. How could He do this if He was not all-knowing?

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. (1 John 2:20)

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (1 Corinthians 2:10)

Somebody who knows everything about every subject lives in the spirit of every Christian! You have access to this information at any time; if you will, just look to the Holy Spirit for guidance!
