Far too many Christians are living on the level of their five physical senses. They are limited in their spiritual life as a result. God has called us to a higher level of living.
You do not have to be led by your five physical senses if you have invited Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior. He placed His Spirit in your spirit the moment you accepted Him. You can be led and guided in all aspects of life by the Spirit of God!
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
(Romans 8:14)
Sons of God should be “led” by the Spirit of God who is dwelling inside of them!
Did you notice that Paul did not say that the Holy Spirit will force us to do anything? He will lead you in every area of life if you will look to Him and be willing to follow His leading.
The Holy Spirit’s role is leading, and yours is following. Can you do that? He will lead you to the right decision and show you the right direction to turn if you will follow Him.
Do you desire to please God? You do this by allowing yourself to be led and directed by the Holy Spirit in every decision.
I knew a family who lived on a farm that raised show horses as a boy. One thing always fascinated me when watching riders as they directed these animals.
The most well-trained horses did not require anything more than a slight touch to start moving in another direction. Their riders would brush these giant animals’ necks, and immediately the horse would respond. Farmhands referred to them as being “reign-trained.” The horses that did not respond were called “hard-headed.”
A horse can be “reign” trained. These horses do not require much effort to turn. They can sense the slightest pressure on their neck and move in that direction. I believe that we can become “reign” trained in our relationship with the Holy Spirit. We can know Him well enough to sense even His slightest touch.
You will find yourself in some fantastic places if you develop your relationship with the Holy Spirit and train yourself to yield to Him. People will compliment you on your decisions, and you will know that it was Him and not you that put you in those places.
The Bible provides us with many titles for the Holy Spirit, such as Spirit of Grace, Spirit of Life, and Spirit of Christ. We will find that He is a very multifaceted person in this study.
One title that you will need to understand is “Holy Ghost.” The word translated “Ghost” is an old English word used in the King James Bible that has tripped many people in their quest to understand the Spirit. It is translated from the Greek word “pneuma” and should be translated as “Spirit.”
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:16 -17)
John 13 – 16 contains the very last instructions of Jesus to His disciples before the cross. Here we see Him telling them that the Holy Spirit would be in them and live with them forever. The Holy Spirit had been with them as they traveled with Jesus, but now the Lord told them that He would also be in them. Today, the Holy Spirit is with you, and He is in you if you have made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life!

There are varying degrees of awareness regarding the Spirit’s presence in your life. We will spend time with each of the above statements with a goal of developing an understanding of how to increase our sensitivity to His presence in our lives.
