Fundamentals Of Divine Healing Part 10

And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. (Matthew 13:58)

We closed the last post with an account of Jesus attempting to minister in His hometown. The people did not receive Him as an anointed minister, so He was only able to heal a few minor ailments.

Matthew tells us that the people’s unbelief hindered Jesus. He had grown up in the area, and most of the people knew His family. Their familiarity with Him bred contempt!

I share the account from Mark 6 because it is the only occurrence in the Gospel account in which Jesus was unable to minister to the sick. From this, we can confidently say that there is not a single occurrence in Scripture of Jesus failing to heal a person because He chose not to.

The very absence in Scripture of any occurrence where we are told Jesus placed sickness on someone or refused to heal them is proof enough that it is not God’s will for us to be sick.

Religion has perverted Biblical truth. I recognize some people will read these words that may become offended. Religious traditions have twisted our thinking to the point where the majority think sickness and disease are God’s blessings.

Sickness and disease are not a blessing from God! It is Satan who authored them and who attempts to place them on us. He is the one who is working to “steal,” “kill,” and work destruction in our lives (John 10:10). Jesus’ mission was to open the door for humanity to experience the blessings of God (John 10:10).

Deuteronomy chapter 28 provides a descriptive list of the blessings and cursing’s that come from either keeping the Law or breaking it. Jesus did not refuse anyone seeking healing because He had been sent to fulfill the Law (Matthew 5:17).

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.(Galatians 3:13 – 14)

We find a list of curses that will come on a person who does not live a holy life in Deuteronomy 28:15-68. Jesus redeemed us from these by being made a curse in our place.

The first fourteen verses of Deuteronomy 28 provide us with a list of the things that God considers to be blessings. Health, prosperity, and deliverance from all sicknesses and disease are things found in these verses.

Religion tells us that sickness is a blessing. The Bible does not agree!

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. (Hebrews 1:3)

I understand why people blame God for the problems in their lives because I’ve done it in the past. For the most part, this is a defense mechanism. It is hard to admit that we did not build our faith to the point of being able to resist the devil when he brought symptoms!

To say that God is the source of our sickness and diseases is equivalent to discrediting the ministry of Jesus. He is the express image of the Father, and His ministry was a perfect representation of God’s desire for humanity.

There is not one account where it is even inferred that Jesus made someone sick or left them to suffer.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (Acts 10:38)

Jesus healed all who were oppressed by Satan with sickness and disease! His ministry provides us with a picture of the state God desires for every person to live.

Some people claim God is the source of their sickness or disease. These people do not have a revelation of Christ’s redemptive work and are incorrectly interpreting Scripture. I question whether they believe these things. If they did, wouldn’t it be hypocritical for them to go to a doctor? It would seem like they would want to stay in the condition God put them in and learn whatever lesson He is trying to teach them!

If people believe that God is the author of sickness, they need to stop asking others to pray for them.  I find it interesting that ministers teach these things but do not have prayer lines for people to receive sickness and disease from God. Can you imagine anyone responding to one of those altar calls?

God is not the author of our sicknesses and diseases. He provided for our healing in Christ’s redemptive work. It is time for us to admit that we are not doing what may hinder us from receiving what has already been provided by faith.
