God never intended for us to continuously receive healing through the working of miracles or gifts of healings. These spiritual gifts are supposed to be temporary measures to help us while we learn how to walk in the principles of faith.
Ministers who operate in the miraculous are needed because most Christians have not learned to receive for themselves. We run to these anointed men and women instead of running to God, but this is not God’s best. Most Christians do not know how to receive healing for themselves. Some do, but they are the exception.
We will continue to be hindered in our spiritual growth if we continually depend on others to pray and believe for us. Christians are far too dependent on traveling ministers. The Lord did not make provision for His body to require a traveling minister to receive from Him! He expects us to develop in faith and learn to believe for ourselves.
Provision has been made for every Christian to walk in faith and see the miraculous. However, we will not see this happen if we are unwilling to pay the price required to grow spiritually.
Jesus told His disciples that the Kingdom of God is like a seed. We will not benefit from the “seed” if we do not plant it in the ground!
The parable of the sower describes four different types of ground. We plant the same seed in each one of these.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1 Peter 1:23)
The Word of God is an “incorruptible” seed. Unlike a natural seed, it is not subject to corruption or decay. Seeds can rot after being planted, but “seeds” found in God’s Word cannot. They will produce what He intends for them to if planted in the human heart.
God’s Word has the same potential for each person, even though some may seem to receive more from it than others. Some people may read this that feel like things just do not work for them the way they do for others. I used to think the same thing.
The ground is only a habitat for “seed” to grow in. We plant, and then the “seed” will produce if we nurture and protect it. The Word of God will transform us if we just take the time to plant it in our hearts.
And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. (Mark 4:4 – 8)
The ground that produces one-hundred-fold harvest has less. It has fewer rocks, has not been packed down to the point where seed cannot penetrate and has fewer weeds and thorns.
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. (Hebrews 4:2)
I agree that it is easier to have someone pray for us than to spend time meditating on God’s Word. It is much easier to live off of spiritual gifts than to develop the daily habit of cultivating our hearts to receive God’s Word through time spent meditating on it.
Most Christian failure results from people praying for a harvest that they are not planting the seed required to produce a crop. There will be no basis for faith if we do not know what Scripture says about our situations.
