Fundamental Building Blocks Of The Spirit Filled Life Part 4

We should not approach life from a natural viewpoint. There is supernatural power and ability available to us through the Holy Spirit. Every Christian should be walking with an awareness of His presence and experiencing the supernatural provision of God daily.

The Holy Spirit lives in the spirit of every Christian. Unsaved people should be able to see a difference in our lives. We are “alive to God,” and they are not (Romans 6:11). Unfortunately, it would be difficult to tell them apart if we were to take most Christians and compare their lives to the unsaved people in their towns. They would be just as sick, just as poor, or just as depressed as any unbeliever.

We are the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). The Holy Spirit lives inside of our spirit. Every Christian should be experiencing the supernatural power of God. There is much more available to us than we are walking in.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
John 16:7

Jesus told His disciples that it is better to have the Holy Spirit come than for them to be with Him. The anointing of the Spirit does miracles, signs, and wonders. We need to develop a vision of His indwelling presence and stir up our hunger for Him.

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:1-2

God has never done anything without the Holy Spirit’s involvement. Every aspect of creation came into being as a result of God speaking and the Holy Spirit moving. Some people have separated the three members of the holy trinity by function. They are three individuals but never work independently of each other.

21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
Luke 3:21-22

We see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit operating at Jesus’ baptism. They are separate individuals but are not different from each other in their function as God. Many call this the mystery of the trinity.

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 5:30

Jesus could not do anything without God.

God never flows without the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was moving before God spoke in the creation account. The Hebrew word paints a picture of the Holy Spirit “brooding’” similar to how a mother chicken sits on her eggs before hatching. He was the creative force behind every natural thing that God created. No element of the natural realm would exist without the Holy Spirit.

I have heard pray that God would give them more of the Holy Spirit. We need to realize that it is impossible to receive any more of Him than we already have. God did not give us just a piece of the Holy Spirit when we were born again!

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
John 1:16

We received God’s “fullness” when the Holy Spirit entered our spirit when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Every Christian has the power of God indwelling their spirit through the person of the Holy Spirit! It is the same power that created the heavens and the earth which is living inside of us. Most Christians do not fully appreciate the power that they have. They are not putting a demand on it as a result.

I have seen people pray for God to heal only one or two areas because they do not want to “bother” Him with their other issues. Most of us do not have a concept of the power that resides within us. Very few Christians have no idea that the Holy Spirit is a knowable person. He wants to have a relationship with us but cannot if we do not know He is with us and available to talk about our problems.

Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels.
2 Corinthians 6:12

The same Holy Spirit who lives in our hearts is the same Holy Spirit who was active in creating the universe. He is also the same Holy Spirit who was involved in Jesus’ resurrection. We are talking about the same Spirit that enabled Peter to walk on water, opened blind eyes, and manifested the healings recorded in the Bible! Every limitation in our lives has its root in our “small” thinking, resulting from our lack of understanding regarding the Spirit’s power.
