Fundamental Keys To Unlock The Holy Spirit’s Power Part 8

God’s love is being transmitted but few Christians have their receivers properly tuned to receive. We tune this by praying in the Holy Spirit and building ourselves up (Jude 20). This type of prayer is available to all Christians and is equivalent to our flipping a light switch in a dark room.

A discouraged Christian is either not baptized in the Spirit or they are not using what has been provided to them by Him. All of us will have things come against us. If we will just take advantage of what God has provided us and use it, we can overcome every temptation and trial.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

The Holy Spirit will never produce discouragement or condemnation. When we are working together with Him, the result will always be love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance from our spirits.

Any person who finds themselves depressed or discouraged is not flowing in the Spirit. They are allowing their five physical senses to hold them in bondage to the natural realm. There are plenty of things to become discouraged about in society today!

If we will just commit to spending time meditating in God’s Word and praying in the Spirit, we would find that the power of God will start flowing in our lives.

This may sound harsh but there really is no excuse for a Christian to not be living in victory. We have the Holy Spirit living inside of us and with His presence is the power of God.

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8

The power comes “after” the Holy immerses us in His presence. This is an experience that occurs after a person has received God’s free gift of salvation.

21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

John 20:21-22

Jesus was talking to His disciples in Acts 1:8. These were the same people that He had breathed on to receive the Holy Spirit in John 20. They had been born again when He breathed on them. The Holy Spirit was dwelling in their spirits but there was another dimension of the Spirit that they had not received.

The disciples had the Holy Spirit inside of their spirits but they had not been baptized in His presence. There is a separate experience from being born again that is available to every Christian. We will dig into that experience in more detail as our journey progresses. There is a huge difference between being born again and having the Holy Spirit with us. Salvation is our foundation and without it we will not enter into the presence of God.

Jesus’ life provides us with a picture of the two experiences. He was born of the Spirit via the virgin birth but did not do any miraculous works until the Holy Spirit came upon Him at His baptism.

The baptism of the Spirit is the point where we are immersed in His presence and receive the power of God. It is the foundational key needed by Christians to unlock the power of God in their lives. This should not be just a one time experience as it must be followed by the development of life totally dependent on the Holy Spirit.
