God knew us before we were conceived in our mother’s womb. He developed a plan for our lives and wrote it in His book. Every human being is precious to Him!
We have all been given free will. God allows us the freedom to choose our level of commitment to Him and His plan.
There will be times each one of us will miss the mark. We will make mistakes but will never reach the end of God’s mercy. He will always be waiting to forgive us but gives us the freedom to choose to turn to Him or not to.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:14
The Holy Spirit was with God when our plan was developed. He understands what it will take to fulfill it and will reveal the keys that can unlock it in our lives!
Every Christian can develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit and can learn to recognize His leading. He was sent by Jesus to guide us in our journey through life.
We have talked about the need to pay whatever price is needed to make time for Scripture and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. This is the process of putting our flesh under His control. It is our first step of submission in our pursuit of the plan of God.
Jesus did not leave us to walk the Christian journey alone. He sent the Holy Spirit to develop a relationship with us and to be our Comforter as He had been to the disciples.
26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Mark 4:26-29
It is not possible to discuss the plan of God without visiting the concept of seedtime and harvest. Everything in His kingdom operates by this principle in both the natural and spiritual realms.
Jesus tells us in this parable that our hearts are the ground in which the Word of God is sown. It will take time to sow the Word into our hearts. There are no shortcuts.
We will have to spend a lot of time meditating in the Word and in prayer for us to unlock the plan of God in our lives. Unfortunately, the majority of Christians do not think about God between church services unless they are facing some form of an emergency!
God desires to be so much more than an emergency medical service to His children. He sent Jesus to die as our substitute to open the door of fellowship that had been closed by our sin. We can have an intimate relationship with Him but He will not force this on us.
I think the key we are seeing here is that there are no shortcuts on the path that leads into the plan of God. Each one of us will have to pay a price that may be different from what other Christians will need to.
So, successfully unlocking the plan of God will require effort. We will have to make time each day to spend meditating on the truths of God’s Word and for fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
Let me pause to say that it is entirely possible to cruise through our time on earth and still end up in heaven. We do not have to pay a price for God to love us. He loved us unconditionally before we drew our first breath and will continue to love us regardless of the choices we make each day.
The path into the plan of God is the path out of lukewarm Christianity. It is not a path leading to quick results.
The ground of our hearts must be prepared in prayer to receive God’s Word seed. Once the ground is ready, a seed must still be planted. The seed must be given time to grow before it can be harvested.
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Hebrews 6:12
Our flesh will want to see immediate results. It will become impatient at the seeming lack of results along the path. We must keep in mind that the seed is working and the results do not come more quickly simply may be due to our seed not being matured to the point of being harvested.
God’s anointing is a very precious gift that He only allows for those who have shown they can be trusted. I’ve discovered that unlocking His plan for our lives will also require that He be able to trust us with it.
Many people struggle with finding the plan of God because they cannot be trusted with it. Spiritually immature people will often get a taste of the plan and attempt to accomplish it in their efforts. This has led to many well-meaning people’s destruction.
God desires for us to succeed in our journey into His plan. He is not hiding it from us but often will only give us a glimpse of what is ahead to motivate us to keep moving forward. He knows we will need time to prepare our hearts to enter into all that He has planned for us.
