Fundamentals Of Finding God’s Plan Part 12

4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1:4-5

We have looked at these verses previously in this study. God told Jeremiah that he had known him before his birth. This is an interesting statement considering so many people today believe a child is not human before their birth!

We were known by our creator before the moment of conception! We must develop in this truth if we are going to successfully discover the plan of God. No human being is an accident. Each one of us has a unique plan developed by God that was written in His book before we were even born.

6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

Jeremiah 1:6

God spoke to Jeremiah. He revealed His plan and we need to take note of the response. Jeremiah did not rejoice at the thought of having been ordained to the ministry of the prophet even before he was born. Instead, he focused on his perceived inability!

Here we discover another key for unlocking the plan of God in our lives. Doing so will require us to become dependent on Him. He will never call us to do something that is not possible to accomplish using our abilities.

The plan of God for our lives is unique. No two people will have the same plan! Our plans may be individualized but it is universally true that each one of us will never be able to fulfill it on our own.

I understand that each one of us has work and family responsibilities. There will be “reasons” why it is not “possible” to surrender everything in pursuit of the plan. The question is whether or not we choose to allow those reasons to become excuses that hold us back.

My own life is extremely busy. My work involves leading the cybersecurity program for an international company. Work alone requires more than fifty hours weekly. I’m married and want to spend time with my wife but God asked me to start a blog and social media ministry. There was a struggle to find balance but the Holy Spirit has helped me to prosper at work, have time for my wife, and build this ministry. He will help you discover the way forward on the path God called you to if you will train yourself to look to Him and follow His leading!

8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

Jeremiah 1:8-10

Jeremiah responded to the revelation of God’s plan with an excuse birthed in his perceived inabilities. We must take our eyes off of what we perceive to be barriers blocking us from pursuing God.

God placed His words in Jeremiah’s mouth! He will also provide the needed abilities and talents to fulfill the plan for our lives if we will make a quality decision to pursue it with our entire heart.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.

John 14:16

The Holy Spirit is dwelling in your spirit if you have surrendered your life to Jesus. He dwells in the spirit of every Christian! Christians will never have a single moment in which He is not present to help them in their pursuit of God’s plan.

We have the Holy Spirit dwelling in our spirits. He is communicating the plan of God but are we listening?

God told Jeremiah not to allow fear in His life. Fear is a roadblock to the plan of God. It will hinder our ability to sense the Spirit’s voice within and it will stop us in our tracks on the journey ahead.

Satan will tempt us to fear on the road into the plan of God. This is a tactic he has used from the very first sin until now. There will be many opportunities to fear and so we must make a quality decision to not allow ourselves to yield to it.

7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

We will have opportunities to fear. Paul told his readers that God did not give them a spirit of fear. His words apply to all Christians!

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

Matthew 14:25-33

Each one of us is called to cast off the weights that hold us back and to step out of the proverbial boat to walk on the water as Peter did when Jesus called him. The Holy Spirit will take our hand as we step onto the water just as Jesus did for Peter.

Fear will be a constant tool of the devil. He uses this to turn our spiritual eyes away from the Holy Spirit’s guiding hand. This may come through storms manifest in the form of financial difficulties or sickness.

If we keep our eyes on the Holy Spirit He will lead us through each storm. Peter chose to look at the storm raging around Him instead of keeping His eyes on Jesus. We will also begin to sink if we follow his example and turn our spiritual eyes towards the storm.

The end of time has come and we are living in the last of the last days. Jesus will be coming for His Church soon and there is no room for us to continue sitting indecisively on the sidelines of life any longer. We must hop off of the proverbial fence and commit to discover and pursue the plan of God regardless of the price required to do so!

God needs people from all walks of life who will commit to paying whatever price is needed to pursue Him. Are we willing to be one of these?
