Fundamentals Of Finding God’s Plan Part 11

God chooses people for service using a different set of criteria than what is used by most of the Church today. He does not look at our past mistakes or accomplishments. His plan for our lives was created before we had a chance to do any of those!

We may have missed His plan in the past but it is not too late to discover it. The Holy Spirit will help us discover the plan and then step onto it where we are at. The key to success in this journey is the condition of our hearts because that is what God is looking at.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Every Christian is called to walk in the supernatural. This unfortunately is not where most will walk. Christians limit themselves by looking at their perceived abilities. We are limited without Him and will miss the plan if we do not allow His supernatural to be added to our natural abilities.

Some people need to be reached that need us. God is merciful and if we do not go will call someone else. This may cause them to be directed off of the path He ordained for them to walk. His desire is for all to be reached.

Kathryn Kuhlman once said that God told her there had been five or six men asked to step into the ministry she walked before He called her. They were unwilling to pay the price but she was.

God used Kathryn mightily in the healing ministry. She was not His first choice! She was just willing to pay the price to enter into His plan. Are we willing to do the same? I do not want to enter heaven and discover that someone else had to step up because I was unwilling!

The journey into God’s plan must be walked by faith. We cannot please God apart from it. Anything that is accomplished in our lives without faith will not be rewarded because it will not be pleasing to Him.

Faith will be required to unlock the plan of God in our lives. We were separated from birth to that plan by God just as Paul was before he was born. The time we live in is part of our calling. No human being is alive at this time by accident! God has given us free will. Our choices will determine how far we go in our relationship with Him.

I have mentioned the price required to find God’s plan. It is not hidden from us but will not be visible if we are traveling in a direction that will bring us to its path.

A phrase that seems to have become very unpopular is “dying to self”. This used to be a common phrase. Most Christians prefer churches that will not require confrontation and that are comfortable. The idea of having to make sacrifices and pay a price is something that is not a popular topic of discussion for these people!

I have heard people talk about being able to give God five minutes in the morning. If this is all we can give then we should do so. Discovering His plan though will require much more from us. It will require us to make an unwavering commitment to pursue His kingdom before anything else.

24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Matthew 19:24-30

The plan of God is not hidden but it is also not an easy road. Many have started on a similar journey as us. They too desired to discover the plan but pulled back when the road became too difficult for them to travel on. Success will require an unshakeable commitment to press on regardless of the challenges that are encountered.

We are not alone in this journey! Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us each step of the way. He is standing by waiting for us to invite Him to help us.

3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:

5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

Philippians 4:3-8

Paul was considered to be “more zealous” than other people serving in Jewish leadership. He had been trained by some of the greatest teachers of his day. His resume was stellar but meant nothing when it came to his call!

Paul had an ironclad resume. His letter to the Philippian church tells us that everything he accomplished before meeting Jesus was “dung” when compared to the calling of God! I’ve heard many Christians talk about the amazing things God was able to accomplish through Paul. How many of us are willing to pay the price he did for the ministry God has called us to walk in?
