Paul tells us that we are dead to sin (Romans 6:11). This does not mean we are incapable of sinning. Christians still sin even though their nature is changed. We are dead to sin but must renew our minds to the truths of God’s Word.
Many people struggle with these truths. They do not understand that there is a difference between the sin nature and acts of sin. We are “dead” to our sin nature but not to committing “acts” of sin.
A person is “baptized” into Christ when they are converted to Christianity. This is the moment that their nature is changed. Christians do not have anything in their nature that is part devil. They do sin though because the old nature left behind an unrenewed mind referred to in Scripture as the “body of sin” (Romans 6:6).
Our minds can be compared to a computer. We were born into this world with a sin program preinstalled. The underlying operating system was “sin”. Our manufacturer provided an updated operating system which is called “righteous”. A person “installs” this by accepting Jesus. This update changes the underlying operating system but individual programs running the “sin” program must be individually updated with the “righteous” software found in God’s Word. The process of reprogramming is called “renewing of the mind”.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Christians struggle with “sin” because they have not taken the time to allow their minds to be transformed by God’s Word.
Christians have a new nature that includes the faith of God, the power of God, the anointing of God, and so much more. Everything needed for us to succeed in the Christian life is already in our spirits. We cannot enjoy any of the things God has provided without first being transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Grace cannot reign in the life of a person who views the world through a curse filled lens. We will continue to fight the same battles and suffer the same sicknesses until our lens is changed to one colored by the Word of God.
There is absolutely no reason for any Christian to live a powerless life that moves in a constant state of defeat. We have the power that raised Jesus from the dead in our spirit!
I believe the current state of Christianity is a direct result of our not having a revelation that we have been made righteous and sealed into Christ Jesus. We need a revelation of our position in Christ Jesus if grace is going to reign in our lives as promised in Scripture.
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
We were programmed to sin by the sin nature each one of us was born with. Christians have a new nature but still commit sins because they have not taken the time to reprogram their soul with God’s Word.
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Vision is built by how our soul is programmed.
We will walk in defeat if we are programmed to see ourselves as defeated.
We will struggle financially if we are programmed to see ourselves living from paycheck to paycheck.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.
Each one of us has the power to reprogram our soul to God’s ways. Doing so will require time to be set aside on a daily basis for God’s Word. There will be a price in time to pay but this is how we choose life.
