Jesus has forgiven all of our sins that we will ever commit. He did this at the cross. The sin nature is eradicated as a result when a person invites Him to be their Savior and become a Christian.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
2 Corinthians 5:21
There are a lot of people who have accepted the fact that Jesus died for our “sins”. Most though do not understand that He dealt with our sin nature through His death. We believe that He forgives “sins” but how many of us believe that He also has made us righteous?
17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 5:17
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:21
Paul tells us that grace reigns in our lives through righteousness. God has forgiven us through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Those who will accept this forgiveness will also be given a new nature.
Christians are righteous. The human spirit is changed at conversion and becomes perfect, pure, and holy. This truth is challenged by religious tradition. Satan does not want us to gain revelation of these truths. He knows that grace cannot rule in a Christian’s life without an understanding of God’s righteousness.
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Mark 7:13
Religious tradition allows for an understanding of forgiveness. It does not allow for an understanding of righteousness. This is how it renders God’s Word as ineffectual in our lives.
Our goal for this study is to learn how to walk in the victorious Christian life provided us through Jesus. We will not reach this without an understanding of our position in Him. If we do not understand this, grace will be unable to reign in our lives. We will not be able to walk in the authority and power of the Holy Spirit.
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Ephesians 1:6
A lack of revelation regarding righteousness will block us from walking in our Christian authority. Through Jesus we have been made “accepted”. This means God will never turn us away when we approach Him. He will always greet us with open arms! He can do this because we have been made righteous through the blood of Jesus!
Unfortunately, the majority of Christians do not understand their position before God. Most do believe they have been forgiven and will not go to hell. They still think of themselves as sinners who have been saved by grace.
When a person receives Jesus they are given much more than just forgiveness of sins. Their spirit is completely changed. It becomes righteous, holy, and pure. This is a foundational revelation which is required for anyone desiring to walk in victory during this life.
