Fundamentals Following The Plan Of God Part 1

God has a plan for every person. This has been true for everyone who has lived throughout history. Most of us desire to find His plan for our lives. Some of us have but then how do we walk in it?

A lot of Christians do not even have confidence in their ability to know what the plan of God is. They desire to walk in it but view it as something that they may or may not be able to fulfill. I have become convinced that each one of us must place our focus on the path God has called us to walk if we are going to do so successfully. Following His plan is something that we must do on purpose.

God has separated each one of us to a specific plan before we were even conceived in our mother’s womb. Our parents may not have known we were coming and they may even have told us we were an accident. This is not true! God knew we were coming and He has a plan for every person alive that He set aside for them before they took their first breath!

We only have one life to live on this planet. This means that there is only one opportunity for us to follow and fulfill the plan of God for our lives. Even if we have not entered into that plan it is not too late to start! The Holy Spirit will help us regardless of whether we are ten years old or sixty. He is just waiting for us to make a quality decision to step out and begin pursuing the plan.

It seems as if the majority allow themselves to be led by circumstances. This is similar to water which will always follow the path of least resistance to its flow. Many Christians let life push them around. They flow according to whatever situation or problem is currently occurring in their life.

Every person who was able to make a difference throughout church history first found God’s will and then followed it to the end of their earthly race. Ministers like Smith Wigglesworth, Charles Spurgeon, and Kathryn Kuhlman walked in the power of God because they allowed the Spirit of God to direct their steps along the path God had called each of them to walk.

The great men and women of Church history were people who had encounters with God. They paid the price to pursue God and lived lives that showed it. The plan of God provided them with a goal to pursue just as it will us today.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:17

This statement provides us with a command to know the will of God. It is not hidden from us but we must be committed to pursue it. He wants us to know His for our lives more than we do.

The will of God is revealed in steps and stages. It provides us with purpose that will enable us to stand when times get tough. We probably all know Christians who have fallen off of their God ordained path. Most do so as a result of not having a clear idea of what God has called them to do. This is usually a result of their not pursuing the things of God with more than half of their hearts.

God made humanity for much more than what most people will ever experience! He has great plans for every man and woman who will ever live. There are many who will never turn to Him. Only a minority of those who do will pursue His plan and purposes with more than half their hearts. He will not force us into His plan. It is sad but the majority will settle for mediocre lives void of God’s power.

There is much more to life than the daily grind we live in. We do not have to settle with getting up, going to work, coming home, and plopping down in front of the television until it is time for bed. Some of us are called to secular employment but it does not have to be a daily grind. We can invite the Holy Spirit into our work and expect Him to flow through us to our coworkers.

We can break out of the daily grind and make a difference to those around us. God has never made a piece of junk or failure. Every one of us has the potential to live an amazing life. This doesn’t mean we will all be known globally. We all have a place whether it be up front on the platform or serving in the children’s ministry. In the end our reward will be based on our faithfulness to the plan of God and not on how well known we were!
