The Word of God is a divine seed that will cause the blessings of God to grow in our lives.
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Luke 8:11
Jesus told His disciples the Word of God is the seed. We plant it in our hearts through meditation and study. This will require us to invest time. If our goal is a continuous harvest of grace and peace we will have to spend time with the Word every day. A part-time commitment to Scripture will only produce part-time results!
Many Christians struggle because they are attempting to obtain results without first planting seed. If we are believing to receive healing, we must be planting healing seeds. We do this by finding verses that pertain to what we’re believing for. Let me give you an example in the area of healing.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Psalms 107:20
What did God send to heal our diseases? His Word! God’s Word is what heals people. The average Christian does not know this and probably does not have one single Scripture to stand on. It seems the majority depend on other people for their Scriptural feeding and do not spend time meditating in God’s Word for themselves.
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Proverbs 4:20-22
If we will dedicate time each day to meditate in Scripture it will produce health in our bodies! The Word of God will bring healing to us but how many of us will begin to devour it at the first sign of a symptom? I have worked in hospitals and seen very few patients who do not keep the television playing all day long. They have not been taught how to receive the healing power of God! Some of you may not agree with what I am saying. It is Scriptural and I encourage you to dig into the Word for yourself.
These truths became real to me many years ago. I had heard this taught but did not fully appreciate the concept of God’s Word being seed until a lump began to form over my right eye. This lump continued to grow until it was the size of a golf ball. A biopsy was conducted and the doctor delivered the bad news. It was a malignant melanoma and he felt that I could extend my life for six months with “aggressive” treatment. This was not the diagnosis I was seeking and it drove me to prayer. The Holy Spirit led me to a series by Keith Moore titled “Receiving and Ministering Healing”. I listened to each message in that series more than one hundred times and hand wrote each one word for word at least five times over the next year. This was more than fifteen years ago which is much longer than what the doctor had diagnosed! My healing came through an aggressive season of meditating on the truths of Scripture and listening to messages delivered under the anointing of the Spirit.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17
Faith cannot enter our lives by any channel but the Word of God. It was the Word that became “health” to the malignant melanoma but only when I took the time to feed on its truths.
I recognize that some people will read the account of my healing and be offended. These people disagree with these truths usually because they had a personal situation in which something they were believing for did not manifest. If this was not the case then it was probably someone close to them that failed to receive. Not everyone will receive healing but this does not mean it is not God’s will for them to receive. We must be willing to humble ourselves and ask God to show us where we missed it when we fail.
There are reasons why things don’t always seem to work. It is not because a person sinned or we are bad people. God desires for every person to walk in health but this will require us to become fanatical about His Word! There are too many Christians basing faith on their experiences and this must change.
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.
2 Peter 1:2
We looked at this verse previously. If we are lacking peace it is because we are lacking revelation knowledge of God’s Word. This is much different from natural knowledge obtained through study or memorization. Some people have memorized whole chapters in the Bible but still are lacking peace. The reason is that they are interpreting Scripture from religious tradition instead.
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Mark 7:13
I believe many Christians are lacking power because they have a view of God that is incorrect. It is based on a misinterpretation of Scripture resulting from natural experience that does not match what the Word teaches. Some have prayed for people who did not receive. Others had a loved one die believing God for a healing touch. These are very real experiences, and I am not discounting them. They cannot be allowed to influence our interpretation of Scripture though! Walking in the power of God will require us to walk in the right truth based on revelation knowledge flowing from Scripture and not our experiences. So the bottom line then is that if we do not have peace it is because we do not know the true Word of God and therefore are not walking in revelation knowledge. This should not put us under condemnation. If we will humbly acknowledge our failures God will lead us into all truth.
