We have seen in prior posts that God creates with His words. I encourage you to read Genesis 1 which provides details of creation.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Hebrews 11:3
God spoke the universe into existence. He “framed” the worlds with His words!
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
Mark 11:22
The disciples had seen and heard Jesus curse a fig tree and then found it dried up from the roots the next day. Peter called Jesus’ attention to the tree and verse 22 provides His response.
Jesus told His disciples that they could possess the same faith He used to curse the tree. He then explained how that faith worked.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mark 11:23
If we believe that the things we are saying will come to pass they will. Are you a Christian? If so then isn’t this the way you became one? You believed in your heart that Jesus was Lord and said a simple prayer like this:
“Dear God, I want to be a part of your family. You said in Your Word that if I acknowledge that You raised Jesus from the dead, and that I accept Him as my Lord and Savior, I would be saved. So God, I now say that I believe You raised Jesus from the dead and that He is alive and well. I accept Him now as my personal Lord and Savior. I accept my salvation from sin right now. I am now saved. Jesus is my Lord. Jesus is my Savior. Thank you, Father God, for forgiving me, saving me, and giving me eternal life with You. Amen!“
If you are not a Christian, I encourage you to pray this prayer. Please leave a comment and let us know that you’ve done so!
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9-10
Paul tells us that it is with the heart that we believe “unto righteousness”. He does not end there. We believe with our heart but then must confess what we are believing with our mouth. This is exactly what Jesus told His disciples in Mark 11:23.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
- Unbelievers hear the Gospel either through a message or personal witness
- Faith is deposited in the heart from the Word
- A confession is made and the unbeliever becomes a Christian!
The confession of faith moves a sinner into God’s righteousness!
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
When an unbeliever hears the Word, believes what they hear, and makes a confession of faith they become a new creature. Their old spiritual nature dies and they are recreated into a new species of being that did not exist before! This is exactly the process Jesus described in Mark 11.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mark 11:23
Do you see the similarity to how a person receives Jesus and becomes a Christian?
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Paul tells us that the unbeliever believes in their heart and then confesses what they believe. This is exactly the same process described by Jesus isn’t it?
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9-10
Paul explains the process that a person must follow to become a Christian. They hear the message and realize their need for a sinner. The Holy Spirit imparts a revelation of Jesus as Savior through the message and the person confesses that revelation over their life!
A person is moved from a state of spiritual death into eternal life when they become a Christian. This occurs in their spirit. The very essence of God’s being was imparted into our human spirit and we became a new creation in Christ Jesus!
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
We became new creations. The old spiritual nature “passed away” and everything was made new. Our sins and mistakes of the past no longer existed in the eyes of God!
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Hebrews 8:12
God literally provides a person with a clean slate when they become a Christian!
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Romans 12:3
A person is made new spiritual, receives eternal nice, and God imparts “the measure of faith” all in a moment of time!
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.
2 Corinthians 4:13
Paul was writing to Christians in the Corinthian church. I believe that this equally applies to all Christians regardless of the Church they attend.
- We have the same spirit of faith that David walked in!
- We have the same spirit of faith that Paul walked in!
- We have the same spirit of faith that Abraham walked in!
- We have the same spirit of faith the all of the Old and New Testament saints walked in!
This is the same spirit of faith Jesus talked about in Mark 11:22. Paul tells us that it works by our believing in our heart and then confessing what we believe. This is the mountain moving faith Jesus spoke of in Mark 11:22-24!
