It seems that this is the may most Christians approach God today. We have allowed ourselves to become overly influenced by the world instead of influencing the world with the power of the Gospel!
I don’t if you have surrendered to God and made Jesus your Lord. If you do not have a revelation of truth from the Word of God Satan will overrun you.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32
God’s Word is the only truth that will set us free. This will only be true if we know it.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
John 17:17
The Holy Spirit will teach us the Word. This will require us to open it and spend time meditating on its truths on a daily basis.
There are people who will carry the Bible to church on Sunday. They take notes and listen intently to the minister. Most of these same people will usually leave church, put their Bible and notebooks on a shelf, and not think about what they heard again until the following Sunday. This is not how we are going to find freedom!
Many Christians will tell you they believe the Bible. They have never read it though and probably only know its contents from what others have said. This is not the intimate knowledge of God’s Word that brings freedom!
We should be studying the Bible every day. It is a living book and there are things that we won’t receive with a casual glance. Revelation knowledge requires us to read and reread every book of the book until its contents are able to renew our minds.
In my experience it seems most Christians believe the Church can only provide assurance of eternity. It seems only the minority understand that there are blessings to be appropriated in this lifetime. This is why churches are not full and it would be difficult to identify a Christian in a room full of non Christians.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2
There are many Christians who have allowed themselves to be squeezed into the mold of this world. This happens because they do not know the Word of God.
If we will pay the price to spend time in God’s Word it will get down into our spirits. Our minds will become renewed and we will start to think like God thinks. This is the position that will enable us to find and enter into the plan of God.
Churches are struggling with attendance because Christians have allowed themselves to become polluted with the world’s thinking. We spend time meditating on news reports, sitcoms, and movies instead of the Word of God.
Transformation occurs only when our minds become renewed by the Word of God. This will not happen if we are not giving time on a daily basis for meditation and study.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Proverbs 23:7
Lasting change will only occur if we change our thinking. This will only happen in accordance to the amount of time given to the things of God. Too many Christians serve God on a part time basis expecting full time results!
Our life flows in the direction of our dominant thoughts. If we are sick and broke it is because our thinking is sick and diseased! This does not mean we want or caused the sickness or lack. It came because our dominant thoughts were not in line with the Word of God.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:10
If we are not taking time out for God every day we will leave the door open for Satan to steal, kill, and destroy. None of us want to experience trials but many of us are leaving the door open for him to wreak havoc!
We live in a fallen world. There are going to be problems we will have to walk through. I acknowledge this. God will always provide a way out and protect us but we must learn to follow His plan.
God has given us power to overcome. We must break out of the mold the world has squeezed us into. This will require us giving careful and considerate thought to the His Word.
