There are far too many people praying for change. They plead with God to intervene in their lives but it seems like the answers are not coming.
We need to realize that change does not come through prayer.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1 Peter 1:23
Peter tells us that we were born again by the “incorruptible” seed of the Word of God. Prayer was involved but it did not get us saved.
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field.
Matthew 13:31
Jesus told His disciples that His Kingdom can be compared to a seed.
The sower soweth the word.
Mark 4:14
The world operates according to the principle of the seed. Everything starts with one. Every person, plant, and animal came from a seed.
We need to constantly maintain an awareness of the seeds that we are planting. People believe for healing but do not plant healing seed from God’s Word. They do not know what God has said but are still hoping for Him to do something. He will always operate in line with His Word which Jesus called “seed”.
If you ask most people who are believing for healing what they have done about their sickness they will probably talk about going to the doctor or taking the prescribed medicine. The majority will not be able to give even one Scripture that they are standing on!
“Well somewhere in the Bible I’ve heard that it was by His stripes I was healed.”
A person who makes a statement like this is not positioned to receive healing from God. I spent a few semesters doing clinical rotations in hospitals during college. It never ceased to amaze me how many patients kept their televisions playing throughout the day. I met many good Christian people who talked about God but never me one who turned the television off to focus on God’s Word.
People will say that I need to be more compassionate. Satan won’t! I once sat across from a doctor and received a diagnosis of a malignant melanoma. He told me that an aggressive treatment plan would extend my life maybe six months. This put me in a place of decision and thankfully I did turn off the television and listened to messages on healing almost twenty four hours a day. They would play when I slept. A legal pad was kept by my side when I was awake and each message was handwritten at least five times. The Word got down in my spirit and here I sit more than fifteen years later without that malignant melanoma! God worked a miracle but only in line with His Word which I had to aggressively pursued.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2
Paul tells us that our transformation comes through the renewal of our minds. This will not happen without the seed of God’s Word being first planted. The majority of Christians are not renewing their minds. They allow television programs, news broadcasts, and sports to renew their minds instead. This is why we see such a lack of power in the church today.
If you follow the average Christian around for twenty four hours it would be obvious that they are spending infinitely more time with the world than with God. This is why it is often difficult to discern between a Christian and unsaved person if they were standing next to each other. We must make a quality choice to no longer allow ourselves to be conformed by the world around us!
