He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.
Romans 4:20
Abraham believed God. He did not vacillate but stood strong on the promises of God!
We glorify God when we are strong in faith. This is a position that allows Him to do what He desires in our lives. He is magnified when His blessings are manifest in our lives.
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Romans 4:21
Faith is persuaded by the Word of God. It does not waiver from the promises of God. We can overcome anything in the natural with our faith.
And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
1 Kings 18:21
One of our greatest battles will be in coming to a place where we are not moved off of the Word by what is going on in our lives around us.
People seem to think that every prayer should be qualified with “if it be thy will”. This is a lack of understanding how faith works.
F.F. Bosworth said, “Faith begins where the will of God is known.”
Faith is a persuasion that what God said is true. It will always be built on the Word of God.
If we do not know that it is God’s will for our bills to be paid we cannot have faith for them to be.
If we do not know that it is God’s will to heal our bodies we cannot have faith for healing.
Our questions regarding God’s will can only be answered with His Word. Many live with doubt due to their faith being built on other people’s experience instead of Scripture.
“Well so and so was a good person and still died even though they were believing to be healed.”
They may have been a good person and they may have been believing. This does not change the fact that it was God’s will for them to receive healing. We may never know the reason why the did not receive and must avoid the temptation to try and come up with one. Regardless though, their experience does not change the will of God as shown in Scripture!
It sounds good to say “if it be thy will” in prayer but statements like this are not based in Scripture. They have no faith behind them and are displeasing to God.
We will see in the lives of people like Abraham that our faith heroes trusted in the Word of God. They heard from Him and were convinced He would do what He said He would.
If we have questions we are not in faith. This is not something to be condemned about. It just means we must spend more time meditating in Scripture. This is the only way to become persuaded of that God will do what He said He would do.
