Traditions Of Men Part 31

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.
John 14:16

Jesus told us that the Holy Spirit would be with us forever. He came on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) and has not departed. If this is true why do so many people cry and beg God to pour out His Spirit?

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matthew 18:20

It has essentially become tradition to ask God to do what He has already done. Prayer meetings are held and people cry out for an outpouring of the Spirit. He came on the day of Pentecost and He resides in the spirit of every Christian. It would be more effective for us to pray that God would open our eyes to what we already have!

The reason Christians beg for an outpouring of the Spirit is because most do not believe He has come. If there are no goosebumps, people running and shouting, or other physical manifestations the assumption seems to be that He is not present.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7

It is carnal to judge spiritual things by what we can touch, taste, see, feel, or smell. There are too many Christians who doubt the existence of a spiritual realm because it cannot be discerned by their five physical sense.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24

If God is Spirit (He is) and our focus is on the natural realm (in most cases it is) then we will not be able to discern His presence in our midst.

Faith is the ability to see what we cannot see in the spiritual realm.

Faith is when we thank God for the answer when we cannot see it. It enables us to release what grace has already provided into the natural realm.

There are millions of Christians praying for revival today. If this was all it took for us to be revived then why are things around us getting worse?

God sent revival on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) when He poured out His Spirit. He has not turned off the faucet. The Holy Spirit is living inside of us and the block is on our side not God’s!

We will need to start believing that the Holy Spirit is dwelling in our hearts if we want to see revival.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Mark 16:17-18

If we saw signs like this happening we would declare revival has fallen. Please note that Jesus did not say that we would have to fast and pray for these to be manifest in our midst. He said that we would only need to believe.

And these signs shall follow them that believe

Christians tend to spend time crying out for revival because that is much easier than leaving our prayer closets to minister one on one. There is far less chance of offending someone while we are praying than if we are out laying hands of the sick.

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Matthew 9:38

Jesus did not tell us to pray for revival. He did tell us though to pray for laborers to be sent out. If we are all locked away praying for our neighbors to be saved, how will they hear the message of salvation?

By grace we are all full of the power of God. It is inside of us and it is only us who can cause revival by doing what the Bible commands us to do. The power of God is inside of us but it must be released it by faith.
