Keys To Increasing In Spiritual Awareness Part 6

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
2 Corinthians 13:14

Fellowship requires relationship.

Relationship requires recognition of the person we desire to have a relationship with. To commune with the Holy Spirit will require us to first recognize Him as a person who is residing with us every moment of every day.

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jude 1:20-21

Praying in the Spirit is one of the most important things we can do to increase our spiritual sensitivity. It is something that Satan cannot understand. When we pray in the spirit we are praying from our spirit in utterances provided by the Holy Spirit.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

If we are not trusting with our heart we are trusting with our understanding. He does not direct our paths from that point and so we will be unable to follow the Spirit’s leading.

The Holy Spirit leads us through our heart. The heart of man is his spirit.

We are to depend on the Holy Spirit’s leadings and not our own understanding.

The Holy Spirit will lead and guide us if we will train ourselves to look to Him. This will result is us ending up at the right place at the right time over and over.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

Walking in the blessings of God will require us to put our flesh under. The Holy Spirit will not lead us to satisfy our selfish desires.

We can develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit just as with any other person. It is out of this relationship that He will guide us in our daily lives.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.
John 14:16

Jesus was the first Comforter. We can learn a lot about our relationship with the Holy Spirit by studying Jesus’ relationship with His disciples. We are going to spend time in the upcoming posts examining this relationship.
