What Is Faith Part 6

When we learn to walk by faith we are learning to operate the way our creator functions. How do you think this will affect our lives?

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17

Paul tells us that the “just shall live by faith”. This applies to all Christians. We are called to live and walk by faith.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7

Sight is much more than what we see with our physical eyes. It is referring to the input of our five physical senses. There are some who equate faith to being a sixth sense and in some ways it is.

We walk be faith and not the input of our physical sense.

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. 18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:16-20

An unsaved person cannot walk by faith. They are forced to live at a lower level which is dominated by the natural realm. I’ve heard Christians question why people do certain things. It should be obvious that if they are not a Christian they will not have the leading of the Spirit we do.

The non Christian is forced to live a life dominated by feelings, reasoning, and intellectual studies. Christians are called to live at a much higher level. We should be dominated by “the faith of the Son of God”. This faith comes from hearing God’s Word and will not be growing if we are not giving time to Scripture every day.

Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God

Paul tells us that the life lived in the flesh should be lived by faith. This is essentially saying what we have already seen in the Scriptures that tell us the “just shall live by faith”.

Paul is talking about faith becoming a lifestyle. This is a completely different way of living than what is experienced by non Christians. Unfortunately it is also a different way of living than most Christians have experienced today.
