What Is Faith Part 3

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Amos 3:3

God has called us to walk with Him as sons and daughters. This will not be possible if we first do not get into agreement about where we are going. We come into agreement by living by faith because this is how our heavenly Father lives.

Everything that God does is done by faith. If we are not walking by faith then we are not walking with Him.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6

Fear, doubt, and wavering unhooks us from God. To stay hooked we must function like our Father and this will require us to walk by faith.

I have heard people come against the “faith message”. Satan works overtime to turn Christians away from faith. He know that if we reject faith, we are rejecting the way of our Creator.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:17

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Galatians 3:11

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Hebrews 10:38-39

Can you see a common theme in these three verses? In each we are told that the “just shall live by faith”. Christians are the “just” and faith is how we are called to live!

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Habakkuk 2:4

The call to live by faith is not something restricted to the New Covenant. It was how humanity was created and it is how God meant for us to walk from the beginning.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7

How does a person walk? They use steps. Paul tells us that we are to “walk by faith”. Faith will require us to take steps.

And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
Romans 4:12

Paul refers to the “steps of that faith of our father Abraham”. Walking in faith involves steps of faith as we move from “glory to glory”. It is our growth in faith that enables us to make each step.

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:18

It takes faith to step out into a direction the Holy Spirit is leading us.

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Hebrews 11:8

The Holy Spirit will often lead us to take a step without knowing the end result. Faith does not always know the destination. It’s assurances are source in the Word of God.

We take a step and believe for God to show us where to take the next one. This is what it means to walk by faith.

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
1 John 2:20

We know very little in comparison to what the Holy Spirit knows. He has taken up residence in the spirit of every Christian. Faith is required to follow His leading and it is required for us to tap into His knowledge.

There are a lot of things that the Holy Spirit desires to reveal. He is limited by our growth in faith. Revelation knowledge will grow over time as our faith to receive it grows.

Faith follows the Holy Spirit trusting that He knows what He is talking about.

Faith trusts that the Holy Spirit will always lead us into good things.

We cannot enter into the plan of God for our lives without faith. God has not made faith optional for Christians. This is how we are called to live for eternity because it is how our Creator lives and operates.
