What Is Faith Part 2

I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
John 17:20-21

Jesus prayed that we would one with Him just as He is with the Father. This seems like a strange concept when viewed through our paradigm of denominations and divisions. Jesus prayed this prayer in faith.

When He looks at us it is not through the paradigm of our present circumstances.

(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Romans 4:17

God calls things that “be not as though they were”. Abraham was merely following the example set when he did the same.

As we progress in this study it should become clear that living by faith is not about living by principles or formulas. Faith requires commitment and it is how Christians are called to live. It was never meant to be only a way of escape when things are not going well.

Faith is how God functions. This is why we cannot please Him without faith (Hebrews 11:6). To be godly then is to walk by faith.

The person who learns to walk by faith in every aspect of life will experience victory in every turn.

Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 5:19

Jesus said He could do nothing that He did not first see the Father doing. He lived and ministered by faith.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17

Faith always is based on God’s Word. We see in the Word and then we do. This is how Jesus lived and this is how Christians are meant to live!

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
1 Corinthians 11:1

Jesus did only those things He saw the Father do. Paul imitated Him in his life and ministry. To follow his example then would be to walk as Christ walked.

The Lord has called us to live by faith. A person who does this will find the life of God manifesting in every area of their life.

Many people struggle with the concept of faith. They are trying to learn about it from an academic viewpoint. Faith grows out of revelation of God’s Word.

Learning to walk by faith does not require us to join a group. I’ve heard the term “faith movement” but faith is not something that just lasts for a period of time. There are even some churches who call themselves “faith churches” but a cursory exam will reveal that few of the members actually walk by faith.

A person who learns to walk by faith is learning to walk as God operates. Faith is how God created the universe and it is released into our spirits through His Word.

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
Mark 11:22

The literal translation of this verse reads, “have the faith of God.” We can literally receive and operate in the same faith that God functions by!
