God has a purpose for each one of our lives. None of us is an accident as some argue.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
Psalms 139:14-17
Before we continue I want to share Psalms 139:16-17 in the NIV translation:
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
Our days were written in God’s book before the moment of our conception!
There are a lot of people who think babies are not human before they are born. If this were true then why would God write out every day in His book before they were even conceived?
God wrote out every talent and even the disposition that would be needed to fulfill His purpose for our lives.
Science has proven that every person has a genetic disposition to be a certain personality. God has designed us that way to equip us for His plan and purpose.
People tend to have an attitude that they have no control over life. They just go through life allowing circumstances to dominate them.
God will not force us to walk in His plan and purpose. He has provided us with the talents and disposition to do so. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us on the journey. We have no excuse if we never step into His plan.
God does not move people pawns in a chess match. There are Christians who believe He is sovereign and will make His will come to pass in their lives. We have a freewill and God will never force His will on us.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Joshua 1:8
God placed the responsibility for success on Joshua. He provided the tools and ability. Joshua had to choose to meditate in God’s Word day and night to succeed. Success requires discipline. The formula is not different for us then it was for Joshua!
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9
God is not willing for any person to die in their sin but people do.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat.
Matthew 7:13
God’s will is for everyone to be saved. Jesus prophesied that not every person would be.
God has a plan for our lives. We have to make the choice to pursue that plan. It will not come to pass just because He wrote it in His book before the moment of our conception.
There was a reason each one of us was born at this time in history.
There is a reason why we were born in a certain geographic area.
There is a reason we were born a man or woman.
There is a purpose for each one of our lives. God chose us and gave us gifts, talents and abilities.
We were born for a purpose. God has our lives planned out. He has given us the choice of whether we will pursue that plan or not.
There are millions of people who feel like a square peg in a round hole. They are not walking in the plan of God. Life is seemingly empty and without satisfaction because they are not on the path God destined for them.
As we begin to turn towards God’s plan we will find it to be a journey. There are steps of development that must be completed. The Holy Spirit will be with us at every point in the journey.
