Traditions Of Men Part 13

We have been discussing the traditions that have robbed the Church of her power. These also paint of picture of God that is innacurate.

We serve a good God. He is love and has only good things planned for our lives. This was first shown in His sending Jesus to serve as the sacrifice for mankind’s sin.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

God would have been justified in destroying man and starting over. He did not do this.

And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Mark 7:12-13

The Word of God is the source from which we tap into God’s power. Satan has deceived the Church through tradition effectively rendering the Word powerless.

Ministers talk about the goodness of God. They then teach doctrines and religious traditions which diminish His goodness.

We have discussed the tradition of sovereignty. This has been taught to an extreme that has turned many away from God.

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Hebrews 12:7-8

People will invariably reference this Scripture when defending the sovereignty doctrine. The word “chastise” means correction. God does correct us when it is necessary.

Please understand that the problem is not with what God’s Word says. His Word is full of power.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16

Paul tells us that the Gospel is the power of God. This power is blocked from being released by religious traditions.

Hebrews tells us that God corrects His children. Many Christians believe that He does this with sickness and disease but they are wrong.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Paul told Timothy that God uses His Word to correct His children. God does not use sickness, disease, or lack to correct His children. His Word is sufficient.

The correction provided through Scripture is sufficient. It will make us “perfect” and “thoroughly furnished unto all good works”.

God’s will speak to us through His Word. If we get off track He will correct us through His Word. If we are not spending time on a daily basis meditating on the truths of Scripture we will struggle with recognizing His voice.

God has one method of correction. He is not a child abuser. It is absolutely wrong to say He will correct His children with sickness, disease, or lack.
