Keys to Unlocking The Plan Of God Part 3

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

We have spent some time discussing this verse. God can take anything and turn it around if we are interceding together with Holy Spirit over our lives. He can use our partnership with the Holy Spirit to make something good out of the evil things that may happen in our lives.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7

It is our responsibility to resist the devil. If we have been taught that the bad things are from God and embrace them, we will not resist the devil. This is the danger of religious tradition.

To resist means we actively fight against the devil and his schemes for our lives.

“God placed this sickness in my life to teach me a lesson.”

Statements like this are steeped in religious tradition. I’ve heard many people say similar things over the years. Each one noticeably was not resisting the sickness or the spirits that brought it into their lives.

If we are not actively fighting against the devil (i.e., resist), he will not flee from us. Satan has lulled Christians into a state of passivity. They accept the destruction he brings and place the blame for it on God.

I have met Christians who fear they would be resisting God by fighting against sickness. The interesting thing about these people is that they believe He put the sickness on them but still seek medical help. On one hand they say the sickness is from God and then on the other they attempt to get free of what they believe He is doing.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
James 1:8

Satan has deceived the Church into a state of double mindedness. In one sense we have become like a soldier sent to war who refuses to fight because they fear their country may have sent the enemy soldiers and feel it would be treasonous to fight back. From a natural viewpoint that sounds absolutely ridiculous doesn’t it?

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32

Religious tradition has replaced the truth of God’s Word. This has resulted in far too many Christians living lives bound up by the works of Satan.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

Did you notice that Paul said all things work together for “good to them that love God”? This statement does not apply to those people who do not love God.

A person who is drunk and dies in an accident most likely did not love God. For these people things did not work for good. I’ve heard ministers quote this verse though at funerals as if it is a blanket statement for all mankind.

We also need to realize that not everyone who is a Christian loves God. There are a lot of people who get born again out of fear. They have heard a message filled with fire and brimstone and gave their heart to God to keep from going to hell.

Paul really narrowed the group to whom this applies by adding the qualifier “to them that love God”. We have seen in context that it also only applies to people who allow the Holy Spirit to work with them in intercession.

So the first qualification Paul provides is that we must intercede in partnership with the Holy Spirit. Secondly, we must love God. Finally, all things work together for good to those who are “called according to his purpose”.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:8

John tells us what Jesus’ purpose is. It is to destroy the works of the devil. A person who functions “according to his purpose” then is one who is on a mission to destroy the works of Satan.

Paul’s statement in Romans 8:28 applies to a person who is interceding and allows the Holy Spirit to supernaturally takes that intercession to another level. This person loves God and actively resists the devil on a mission to destroy his works.

A person who embraces the devils works and gives credit to God for them will not see things work together for good.

God is not the one who started death in this earth. Mankind allowed it to enter into creation through sin.

It was never the plan of God for a parent to bury their children. He can bring something good out of it but the loss of a child to sickness or an accident is never in His plan or purpose.

God created a perfect world. There was no sickness, lack, or death. Mankind’s sin introduced these into creation. Satan has deceived the majority of Christians into embracing his works as being from God. It is for this reason the majority will never fight or resist sickness or poverty.
