Who Is This Holy Spirit Part 3

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:14

If you are a Christian you have access to the Holy Spirit. He has taken up residence in your spirit and He will guide you directly.

There are people who have gotten into trouble following other people’s advice. This may be a loved one, a friend, or minister. It is good to obtain Godly counsel but this must never override the Spirit’s leading.

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
1 John 2:20

Every Christian has this unction. It is from the Holy Spirit who is dwelling within their spirit.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.
John 14:16

Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
John 16:7

Jesus told His disciples that it was expedient for Him to leave. The word expedient means better. Our covenant is better because we now have the Holy Spirit residing inside of our spirits. He is available at any time and standing by to help us. We must train ourselves to recognize His leadings.

When Jesus walked the earth He was limited to a physical body. If Peter were talking to him then John would have to wait until they were done to have time with the Lord. Today we do not have to wait. I can talk to the Holy Spirit at the same time billions of other people are talking to Him.

I have heard people talk about how much better it would have been to live when Jesus walked the earth. They do not have a revelation of the Holy Spirit’s presence in their lives.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
John 14:12

I acknowledge that it would have been amazing to witness the miracles that occurred in Jesus’ ministry. This does not mean it would be better than what we have today. Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be with us and as that we would do “greater works” than those that occurred in His ministry.

People look back longingly to Jesus’ ministry because they are not seeing these greater works. The reason is not that God has withdrawn them or that we do not need them.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower us. Most Christians do not recognize His presence. Few of those who do will ever see Him as anything more than an impersonal force. He is so much more!

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Hebrews 8:11

Jesus said that it would be better for us if He left. This opened the door for the Holy Spirit to come and dwell with us. As a result every Christian can now have an intimate personal relationship with God.
