We are going to begin a new series focused on unlocking the plan of God for our lives in this post.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
God has a plan for our lives. Many will never find it. Others will get a glimpse and may walk in bits of it but never enter in fully. Our goal in this series will be to provide the necessary tools needed to identify and unlock the plan of God in our lives.
If you ask the average Christian today whether they are doing what God has called them to do you will find that most are unable to answer. How this must grieve God.
We will never “accidentally” fall into the plan of God. Finding it will require us to put forth effort in prayer and meditation in the Word of God.
In my experience life can be compared to water. It will always sink to the lowest level unless we are willing to make a conscious decision to make the effort to seek God’s plan.
Far too many Christians today let circumstances determine the course of their life. God’s plan requires effort.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Joshua 1:8
God placed the responsibility on Joshua for his success. It would require him to make a decision every day to put the Word of God in his mouth ad to meditate in that Word “day and night”. This required effort.
Walking in the plan of God can be compared to paddling a canoe upstream. If we stop paddling, we will find our canoe moving opposite of the direction we are called to go. It is not possible to travel upstream in a canoe without putting the paddle into the water. It is also not possible to travel in God’s plan without making a conscious decision to seek Him every day through His Word and prayer.
There is no way a person can walk in the plan of God if they do not know what it is. Discovering the plan of God is our starting point. It is the entry into living a fulfilled life.
