Today we will be concluding our study on how to receive healing. We have not covered every method by which a person can receive. There are many more methods taught in the Bible and we may pick up this study in the future.
But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Mark 6:4-6
We are going to close our study by examining the role of believing in receiving a healing touch from God.
“And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.“
Jesus was limited by the unbelief surrounding Him. We are currently talking about the doctrine of sovereignty in our study into the traditions of men.
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
Psalms 78:41
I have heard ministers say that nothing can happen unless God wills it. The Psalmist tells us that Israel limited God. Mark tells us Jesus was limited in His ability to minister. In light of these verses I wonder if these ministers would say God limited Himself and Jesus by willing the people to be in unbelief?
Do you see how absurd it would be to think of God willing that Jesus be limited? This is the reason we must examine everything that we hear. I have sat in so many services where people sit and listen without even opening their Bible once.
Mark 6:4-6
We have been talking about the healing anointing. The people’s unbelief limited Jesus. He was still able to lay hands on a few sick people and minister healing to them. It was the healing anointing that enabled this.
So how did the people limit Jesus? They did not honor Him because they had seen Him grow up. He was a local boy and the people could not imagine God being able to use Him. There was no respect for the anointing on His life.
The healing anointing will work when no other method works. It only requires the sick person to believe the anointing is from God and is released when hands are laid on them.
Our goal is to learn how to receive healing. There are certain things that the sick person will be responsible for if they are to receive healing.
- The first responsibility will be for the sick person to know anyone can lay hands on them. We see this in Mark 16 where Jesus tells us that believers will lay hands the sick.
- Secondly, the sick person must realize that their faith will be involved even if they are being ministered by a person anointed by God to minister healing.
