Traditions Of Men Part 7

Did you know that bad things often happen as a result of the world being in a fallen state?

There are ministers who say that God is the one who puts sickness on people. I’ve even heard them tell parents that it was God who took their child! This is not the God portrayed in Scripture.

God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit from one tree. He told them death would be the result if they did.

But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Genesis 3:3

God did not start death. He did not force Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. Death was introduced into creation through her and Adam’s disobedience!

God did not make animals carnivores. They became that way because of man’s sin!

I have heard ministers say that nothing happens that is not God’s will. This is not true! If you believe this then you do not believe in the God of the Christian Bible.

Over time I’ve realized that most people do not believe the Bible. They are grounded more in religious tradition than they are in Scripture. As a result their faith is strong in tradition.

Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Mark 7:13

“Oh this is what I’ve been taught my whole life!”

If what you have been taught is not based in Scripture then you need to discard it.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9

Peter tells us that it is not God’s will for any man to perish. This is clear. God’s will is for every man and woman to be saved but not all are. If this is His will, and He is in control of everything, how could there be any unsaved people?

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat.
Matthew 7:13

Jesus tells us that there are many who will choose the “broad” path that will lead the to destruction. In Peter’s writings we saw that it is not God’s will for anyone to perish. How can anyone say then that God’s will automatically comes to pass?

God’s will does not always come to pass. He gave mankind a free will. We are not forced to do His will because He allows us the opportunity to choose to follow Him or not to follow Him.
