I have heard people complain that things in their Christian life are not working. There will always be a reason why things are not working. The number one reason for this is deception. If we do not believe the truth then it will not be able to make us free.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:32
I am a Christian and inside the Church. This does not mean that I agree with everything that I’m seeing in churches today. There is a lot of tradition that has blinded Christians. This is why they are not able to walk in the fulness of all God has planned for them.
Most churches do not teach the Word. They teach religious doctrine and tradition.
Several years ago I had the opportunity to attend a Local Pastors school with one of the largest denominations. This was an opportunity meant to prepare people to pastor a smaller church without attending seminary. The District leader from my area taught a session on sermon delivery. It shocked me to hear him encourage the class to cut their sermons to as little time as possible so that they could get to the more important stuff!
There is nothing more important than the Word of God. Jesus said we would know the truth and it would set us free. The “truth” He spoke of cannot be found outside of the Word of God.
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Mark 7:13
Jesus was not willing to confront error. As the old saying goes, He was willing to call a spade a spade!
In our next post we are going to start looking at the first tradition of our study. This is the one I consider to be causing the most damage. It is the wrong teaching on the sovereignty of God that has voided far too many people from knowing how good our God is.
