Did you ever stop to think that if you get messed up as a result of following another person’s advise that it is your fault? If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in your spirit. He will lead and guide you if you will just learn to listen to Him.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:14
Paul did not say that Christians should be led by their pastor, spouse, or parents. He said that we are “led by the Spirit of God”. If we will learn to look to the Holy Spirit, He will help and guide us on the path that God has ordained for us to walk.
I thank God for prophecies, friends, and godly advice but none of these things will ever replace the Holy Spirit’s direction for our lives. Christians should never lean on the counsel of man to determine the direction of their lives.
But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
1 John 2:20
Every Christian has this unction in their spirit. This is what makes our covenant better than the Old. Old Testament believers had to go to the prophet, priest, or king to receive a word from God. We have the Holy Spirit Himself dwelling inside of our spirit!
When Jesus walked the earth He was limited by His physical body. If Peter were speaking to Him the other disciples would have to wait before asking a question. Jesus came in a physical body and had the same physical limitations that you and I do. If He was teaching it would not have been possible to provide personal guidance to any of the people present.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:16-17
The Holy Spirit is with us twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. He is inside every Christian. We can talk to Him as we’re driving down the road while another Christian is talking to Him laying in their bed. He can anoint a every ministers to deliver messages simultaneously on multiple continents!
It is better to have the Holy Spirit. He is not confined to a physical body as Jesus was. Jesus said that He would be with us forever. The problem though is that the majority of Christians do not recognize Him as a person and therefore are unable to discern His presence or leadings. My heart in this series of posts is for us to learn about this precious third person of the God head.
Let me close today’s post with Paul’s words from 2 Corinthians 13:
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
2 Corinthians 13:14

Good Post. I’ve often asked when you go to church what are you looking for? In listening to the man/woman of God what do you see? Do you see the Spirit of the Living God in them—beyond the flesh? Or are you distracted by the package instead of what’s inside?

Thank you for your comment. I have seen in so many larger ministries that the people seem to be following the man or woman instead of God. We are called to be disciples of Jesus and not man.
