For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Hebrews 10:10 tells us that we have been sanctified and then verse 14 of the same chapter tells us that we we have been perfected for ever.
I want us to pay particularly close attention to the fact that verse 14 tells us we have been perfected forever. It does not say that we are just perfected until we sin again.
A carnally minded individual who is only focused on the external will never understand this. They will look at the mirror and dispute verses like Hebrews 10:14 because what they “see” will not look perfect. Our body has not yet been perfected.
Our emotions may go up and down but that does not mean we have not been made perfect. We have not been perfected yet in our soul.
It is in our spirit that we have been sanctified and perfected forever.
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
Notice the reference to “the spirits of just men made perfect”. Our body and soul have not been sanctified. Our spirit was sanctified and perfected forever by Jesus’ one sacrifice.
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
We were created in “righteousness and true holiness”. We were recreated in the spirit and made sanctified and perfect by the blood of Jesus the moment we were born again.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1 John 4:17
We were recreated in the image of God the moment we were born again. John tells us that we are “as is he is” “in this world”!
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.
We were saved, sanctified, perfected, made to be like He is in this world, and sealed with His Holy Spirit the moment we became a Christian!
Satan is given an inroad into our bodies when we sin but he is not given access to our spirits.
Our body and soul are opened to the devil every time we sin. The answer to our problems is to quit living in sin! I have heard people complain about all the devil is doing in their lives but they are the one’s who are leaving the door open.
Our spirit is sealed. Sin does not penetrate this seal. When we sin it does not cause our spirit to stop being sanctified. Our spirit is not defiled by our sin and cannot be defiled.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
God is a spirit. He views us in the Spirit and our relationship with Him is in the Spirit. In the spirit we are righteous, sanctified, holy, and perfected for ever!
