Learning to Follow The Unction

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 1 John 2:20

I used to have difficulty understanding large portions of Scripture because I was unaware of my spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in the spirit of a Christian. He is not dwelling in their soul or body. It is our spirit that has the Holy Spirit unction and it is our spirit that knows all things! Revelation knowledge flows into our soul like a fountain springing up from our spirits. It does not come through studying the Bible and memorizing whole passages. This does not mean that we do not spend time meditating on the Word. We just do not approach it from an academic viewpoint because it is a spiritual book that can only be understood through revelation imparted by the Holy Spirit.

We will find ourselves beginning to relate to God differently if we develop an understanding of the spiritual realm. God is spirit and we are created in His image. It is our spirit that was made clean by the blood of Jesus when we were born again. Every Christian has gone through a transformation spiritually that moved them from the state of being a worthless sinner to that of being able to stand boldly in the very presence of God Himself!

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Ephesians 1:6

This verse is not telling us that we have become “God” as some teach. Our spirits have been recreated and we have been made “accepted”. This means that we are assured that God will never reject us when we approach Him as a result of Jesus’ redemptive work.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9

There are people who mix this verse with Old Testament passages and claim that God’s ways are too high for us to understand or comprehend. I’ve even heard ministers use this argument to justify a Christian’s failures in their Christian journey. While is true that we are human, it is also true that our spirits have gone through a complete transformation when we accepted Jesus as our Savior.

Spiritually we are a new creation that never existed before the day we accepted Jesus. We still have a soul and body that needs to be dealt with, but we can stand boldly and say with John that we are as Jesus is in this world! We will find ourselves experiencing a life filled with days of heaven on the earth f we can learn to operate from our spirits under the leadership of the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit fills our spirits with the fullness of His presence. Paul tells us that He was given as a guarantee pointing to what God has prepared for us in eternity (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). The Holy Spirit is dwelling in your spirit if you have accepted Jesus into your heart! Your spirit has become just like Jesus right now!
