Do you know that you are in the place God has called you to walk in?
- Are you in the Church He has called you to attend?
- Are you in the career He has called you to pursue?
- Are you doing the things that God has called you to do?
These are the types of questions we should be asking ourselves. God has not hidden His will from us but it seems as if the majority struggle with understanding what it is for them.
Our life and efforts should be focused on the pursuit of God’s will and plan. I have heard people talk about the call of God on ministers. It is almost as if people believe that God only places his call on people who will stand behind the pulpit.
God has a plan and a unique call for each of our lives. There is no need for us to stumble through life hoping that we fall into it. Everyone one of us has been anointed to fulfill a specific purpose!
As I have studied the callings of God it has become clear that one major reason Christians struggle to find the plan of God is because the Church has been influenced by the world. There is a humanistic attitude that has spilled over into the Church and affected our view of God. We have a freewill but churches are teaching that God controls everything and our choices cannot override that.
Did you know that God created you for a purpose? There is not a single person alive today that is an accident.
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalms 139:13-16)
God covered us when we were still in our mother’s womb. He has a plan for us and we are not an accident!
And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost. (Luke 1:41)
Mary was carrying Jesus when she visited Elisabeth. Elisabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist who “leaper in her womb” when she was greeted by Mary. This was six months into Elisabeth’s pregnancy!
John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit three months before he was born. People often question when life begins but I do not believe God a non living fetus with His Holy Spirit!
The Psalmist tells us that we were “possessed” by the presence of God in our mother’s womb. We were created and designed by God with a specific plan and purpose.
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (Hebrews 1:14)
Angels were sent to minister on our behalf! God placed them on earth because He knew that each one of us would accept Him one day. I believe that His angels were even working in our lives before we became a Christian.
It does not matter if you are a male or female, tall or short, or have blond hair or brown. God has a plan for each one of us that existed far before we prayed the prayer of salvation!
We may have develop in our talents but it is God who placed them in us before we were ever born. Those talents were given to us to accomplish His specific plan for our lives.
One of the most amazing revelations I’ve ever received is that God has a unique plan for my life. It is not up to me to pick and choose what I am going to do with my life. God does not bless my efforts for whatever I choose to do but He will always bless my efforts in His plan.
God knew me before I was born. He knew what country I would be born in and He knew what I would look like. I have heard people talk about how cool it would have been to live in Jesus’ day but that was not the time God chose for us to walk the earth.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)
We will all stand before the Lord one day. There will be a fire applied to each one of our lives and the things we accomplished outside of His plan will be burned up.
I think that we should take note that Paul said God would “try every man’s work of what sort it is”. He did not say that we would be judged on the size of our works. We are the ones who compare our works to how much other people accomplish but that is not how God measures things.
God did not call everyone to be on television of have an international ministry. Some of us are called to just write a blog without a speaking ministry. Others are called to visit their neighbor. We all have a realm of influence with a specific plan on how to be most effective. God will hold us accountable for the plan He put together for our life.
God will not judge us based on what we did with our lives. We will stand before Him and give account for what we did with His call and anointing. If He chose us to be an accountant and we worked as a mechanic then our time as a mechanic will burn like wood, hay, and stubble!
We will continue with this discussion in our next post. For now take some time and examine your life. If you are in a job that you absolutely hate it is probably not what God planned for you to do! The plan of God will be revealed to those who will seek Him with their whole heart.
