We all have a place that God has called us to walk in. None of us will ever do everything He has called us to do if we do not discover His plan and enter into that place.
We serve a big God but most of us are not living at the levels He has called us to reach. He is supernatural but we often limit ourselves to the natural realm. I once heard a minister say that if our lives are not supernatural they are superficial.
To be superficial is to exist only at a surface level. We were created in the image of God. We are spirit and we have a soul which is our mind, will, and emotions. The body we live in is basically a shell. Living superficially for a Christian then would be to live according to the input of the shell that we live in.
We serve a supernatural God. He has a big plan for our lives. Walking in this plan will require us to step away from ‘our’ accomplishments. Most of us limit God to what we can accomplish in our own efforts.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he… (Proverbs 23:7)
The way we think is what causes our lives to move in one direction or another. Many people will argue against this by making excuses or blaming others for their troubles.
Proverbs 23:7 tells us that it is the way we think that will determine the way we are. Our thinking will be dominated by the natural realm if we are feeding our souls (mind, will, intellect, and emotions) with television shows, movies, or sporting events.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:8)
God did not tell Joshua to just read a verse or chapter each day. The key to good success and prosperity given to Joshua was meditating in the Word day and night.
The key to changing our thinking is meditation in God’s Word. We do have family and work responsibilities. I recognize this but if we are going through the whole day without once thinking about God or His Word it will affect the course of our life.
I have discovered over the years that if I do not cooperate with Satan in my thoughts he will be limited in his ability to operate in my life.
God flows through the way we think. We limit His ability to operate in our lives with our thoughts just as we can limit Satan’s ability to operate in our lives.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)
God’s will is manifested in our lives through the way we think. As we spend time in the Word we should see that our vision will begin to increase.
God is a big God and He has big plans for our lives. We need to challenge ourselves to think thoughts that are just as big as Him!
A lot of people are unsatisfied with their lives. Nothing will change though until they change their thinking!
39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. 40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! 41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. (Psalm 78:39-41)
How did they limit God? Through their thinking! They heard the report of ten spies and saw themselves as grasshoppers in comparison.
God is limited to what He can do in our lives by our small thinking. If we allow ourselves to become preoccupied by the things of this world we will never achieve the height He has called us to attain.
